Zimbabwe

From the thunder of Victoria Falls to the vast, little-visited national parks of the interior, Zimbabwe offers a safari experience that is wild, authentic, and deeply rewarding.

Truly Wild Safaris and Iconic Landscapes

Zimbabwe is home to one of Africa’s most awe-inspiring natural wonders, Victoria Falls, a spectacular finale to any southern African safari. But beyond the falls lies a richly rewarding destination for travellers seeking wild, untouched wilderness, world-class safari experiences, and deep cultural connections.

Over 25% of Zimbabwe is protected land, offering diverse ecosystems and thriving wildlife. Hwange National Park, the country’s largest reserve, features sandveld plains and teak forests teeming with over 100 mammal species, including Africa’s largest elephant herds, and more than 400 bird species. To the north, the Zambezi River winds its way through Mana Pools National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its adventurous walking safaris and canoe trips alongside hippos and crocodiles.

In the remote southeast, Gonarezhou National Park rewards the intrepid with dramatic landscapes, few visitors, and an authentic, off-the-grid luxury safari experience.

What truly sets Zimbabwe apart is its people. The country’s safari guides are among the most respected in Africa, highly trained, passionate, and deeply connected to the land. Many camps and lodges work closely with local communities, offering guests meaningful cultural exchanges while supporting conservation and livelihoods.

Despite past political and economic challenges, Zimbabwe remains a vital safari destination. Travelling here directly supports conservation efforts, protects wildlife, and sustains local communities.

When to visit Zimbabwe

The best time to visit Zimbabwe for a safari is during the dry season (April to October), when wildlife congregates at waterholes and vegetation is sparse for easier game viewing. From November to March, the green season brings migratory birds, lush landscapes, afternoon storms, and some of the most dramatic sunsets in Africa.
